Comparison Paper Instructions:
In your paper you are to describe a meaningful relationship between something in the course material & something specific in contemporary visual culture.
What kind of relationship? These are a few possibilities, though you are not limited to these examples. However, your paper should make it clear that there are compelling reasons that this is a worthwhile comparison, and not an arbitrary one:
A led to B / or has meaningful connection to B
•A & B: similar forms (medium& appearance) but new & different meaning /purpose.
•A & B: different forms (medium & appearance) but similar meaning / purpose.
•Etc.
What things can you choose as subjects?
A.From the course material (Chapters 2-10–No prehistoric art & No architecture.
•Specific object
•Type of art (for example: Greek deity statues, Egyptian tomb frescoes, etc.)
•Recurring subjects & themes(referring to several specific examples from the text).
B.Contemporary visual culture
• Must be a single specific work of visual culture; not general. (provide image
with paper).
•Any medium, probably 20th
c. or later–preferably 21st c. (2000–present)–but possibly earlier….

The other may be a book or a reliable website / resource.

E.Have the art works remained the focus of my paper, or have I gone off on a tangent? (i.e.: stay focused & no filler or B.S.)
Are my ideas clearly expressed and organized?
