The aim of this portfolio project is to establish how employee motivation is related to employee performance in the work place. This thesis will provide detailed information on how employees can be motivated intrinsically and extrinsically to increase their effectiveness and efficiency that will lead to improved performance of organizations (Orpen, 2016).
A research conducted by Vroom (1964) made a conclusion that there is no positive relationship between motivation and employee performance. However, later researches reveled that it is possible to increase the performance of the workers by increasing their morale.
Thesis statement
Employee motivation takes different forms and greatly influences the performance of the employees. Organizations should embrace various motivational theories to come up with strategies that will increase the morale of the workers. Motivation can be perceived from different perspectives. In order to understand the concept of motivation, researchers ask themselves a simple question: “why is motivation important to employees and why do managers motivate employees”. The basic answer to this question is because motivation is necessary for survival of a company in a competitive environment. It is important that managers and leaders learn the different ways of motivating their employees. This is because employees are the main driving force in any organization. They are the main determinants of success or failure of the organization (Mitchell, 2012).
This paper project will be organized into various sections. The following will be the outline of the portfolio project:
