Individual Research Paper on McDonalds facing environmental issue & impact.

MANAGEMENT CLASS – Introduction to Environmental Management & Clean Energy _________________________________________________ Please follow the instructions below and do exactly as asked and write accordingly. The instructions tell you choose a company – i already chose “McDonalds” – now you have to do a proper research on the company in-relation to the questions asked below and then write a research paper on it….(paper needs to have claims and counterclaims with proper detailed suggestions and not anything wage like mentioned in the instructions, I will also attach files with more readings done in class for you to understand what i have learned) ________________________________________________ INSTRUCTIONS:- You are writing these research papers in order to analyze a particular environmental issue for business and make recommendations to business executives or policy makers. Don’t be vague and say things like “reduce pollution” or “improve water quality”– how would you recommend this be done? What are the business benefits? What are the business risks if action is not taken? The more specific your recommendations, the better. Choose a specific company or industry that faces a pressing environmental issue. Since you have been keeping up with your reading and current events, you have (almost) the whole world to choose from. You should structure your paper according to the following format: Section I – Background (~1 page) Describe the issue and summarize the environmental problem and related business impacts clearly and succinctly. Use data and statistics to strengthen your argument. Section II – Analysis (~2 pages) Describe why the issue you have selected is a challenge for the company or industry you selected? What are the current policies/laws to address it (or the lack of such)? Are there any upcoming policies or laws that may affect business in the future? Why should the company address this issue as soon as possible? Provide hard facts, not vague generalizations or predictions of doom. Section III – Options (-1 page) What sorts of options does your company executive have in dealing with this environmental problem? (“Do Nothing” may be an option as well.) List the pros and cons in terms of business impacts of each option– again, be specific. How would they affect your selected company/industry? Section IV – Recommendation (~1 page) Which option do you recommend and why? Aim to make a business case for taking action; include not just standard indicators such as payback and return on investment but also intangibles such as improved reputation, ability to attract and retain talent, customer recognition, license to operate, etc. You need to cite any fact or argument that is not original (footnotes are preferable to endnotes) and you should use academic references like journal articles, books, and newspaper articles. Wikipedia is NOT an academic source, nor necessarily is any random web page – make sure your information comes from a reliable source. Make sure you use at least 5 references that come from a variety of sources and are relatively up to date. Your paper should be about 5-6 pages (2x-spaced, 1-inch margins, 12 pt. font, etc.), excluding bibliography. Include maps, charts, or graphs as appropriate – if they are large, you can attach them as appendices (they do not count towards your 5-6 pages limit). Using hard data and statistics always brings extra points! Use tutors to help you and proofread your paper! I expect college-level grammar and spelling. Twenty percent of your grade is for spelling and sentence structure.
